QEP: 1                                                                                Activity Level: M

Description:

Layer 1:

  • Student is static and plays around with a tennis ball; finding different ways to hit it. (in side half of a half badminton court)
Layer 2:

  • Students can now move within his section, but this time he has to lob the ball upwards with the palm of his hand.
Layer 3:

  • Students now pair up within one either student’s playing field. (Player starting with the ball chosen by rock paper scissors) Students must lob the tennis ball higher or same high as the person shoulder within the playing space. The point of the game is to send the ball in an area that makes it harder for the other player to get to; the other student gets a point when the ball is bounced twice before the student manages to get it.
Modifications:

--Can use a different ball (volleyball to practice hitting it)

Safety:

The teacher has to make sure to tell students to wait at the edge of the court when the ball goes out of their zone as to not interfere with other playing fields.
