Blind Parachute Volleyball

Picture
Type: Net and Wall

Cycle: 3

Tactics: Hitting it closer to the net, not up high; it gives the other team a shorter time to react.

QEP: 1-2                                                                                       Activity Level: M

Description:

Layer 1:

  • Place class into groups of six, make each team stand in one half of a volleyball court; make them practice hitting the ball to each other
Layer 2:

  • Now make both teams hit the ball across the net, for them to get the feel of getting it over it.
Layer 3:

  • Separate the class into groups of six; each group of six gets one half of the volleyball court. The teacher places large a parachute over each one of the volleyball nets to cover the other side as much as possible. The teacher has one team in each playing field start with the ball.  The point is to hit the ball to the other side of the field. (Players are not aloud to catch it). Three passes must be made before the team is aloud sending it over to the other side. (players should use bumping, volleying, striking) (no locomotion with ball). A point is scored when the ball does not go over the net after three passes, goes out of bounds, or is dropped.  Rotation of the player occurs after each point.
Modifications;

--Allow less passes; this creates quicker play.

Safety:

Because the players don’t see where the ball is coming from, use softer balls in case player gets hit in the face.
