Type: Striking and Fielding

Cycle: 3

Tactics: Hit the ball far. Hit the ball where there are fewer players. Don’t hit the ball hard, to make players run for it.

QEP: 1-2                                                                                        Activity Level: H

Description:

Layer 1:

  • Give the children the opportunity to try out the bat first. Make groups of two. Give each group two balls and a bat. Both players find a part of the gym wall to hit the ball all. One player throws the ball up to the other from the side, the other hits it towards the wall. Player switch after a player hits both balls.
Layer 2:

·         Separate the class into groups of five. Place cones to simulate the 4 bases in a baseball field (modify the distance between the cones by the size of the gym you are using). Place one team in the field and one team as batters. The point of the game is to hit the ball and run through all the bases. The players in the field have to catch the ball and throw it from the player situated on the first base to the second third and fourth. Each catcher must be touching the cone, and each batter must touch the cones as he passes them. A point is scored to either the players on the field if they manage to get the ball through all the bases before the runner gets there. If the opposite happens the point is awarded to them. (Switch batters once a whole team has had the chance to bat)

Safety:

Make sure player calls out his name when he is running for the ball.

Players must be aware of others when they are running
