Picture

Type: Pursuit and Evade

Cycle: 2-3

Tactic: Sprinting, agility, acceleration.

QEP: 1-2                                                                                       Activity Level: M

Description:

Layer 1:

  • Can start with the game rock paper scissors; two by two. Player who wins chases the other before the gets to his baseline.
Layer 2:

  • Before creating two big teams, they can play crows and cranes two by two, instead of the whole team.
Layer 3:

  • Divide the class into two teams: crows and cranes. Place both teams on their own line facing each other. The teacher then yells out either, “crows” or “cranes”. The teams’ name that is called out has to run quickly to their baseline without getting tagged. If a player is tagged, he or she must switch to the other team.
Modifications:

--Can start by lying on their stomach

--Can use different movement patterns

--Can be facing the opposite direction so the team has to turn around to before chasing the other players.

Safety:

Students should keep heads up when running and use

soft tags.

Make sure there is an adequate safety zone between the baseline and the nearest wall.

Make sure players know their zones, so they don’t cause collision between others.
